Does God Exist?

I found this monthly journal that is mailed to God-loving people's houses. (Unfortunately, I found it at one of my friend's houses.) Well, I guess I should start out and say that it's not that I don't believe in God. I believe in a higher power whether you call it God, The Almighty, Spirit, etc.  The name is not important.
Anyway, on the front of this journal is the underlying reason this journal exists. It says "we are a nonprofit effort to convince mankind that God is real and the Bible is His Word." WHOA!!!!!!!!! Stop right there almighty human who wrote that. I had to read that about 5 times to make sure I understood it correctly. WHOA!!!!!!!!! That's heavy. First of all, why do you want to convince mankind that God exists? Is it really that big of a deal that even a single person believes in "God". What if the author's best friend believes in Spirit  but not God? Will the author try to convince his BFF to switch over? I think this is redonkulous.I mean really?
Even though I was about to throw up, I had to fulfill my curiosity of what was inside this journal. Surprisingly enough, it had some decent articles in it. One was an essay written by a scholarship winner about how science and faith can work together in medicine. She starts out with a quote from Plato, "The greatest mistake in the treatment of diseases is that there are physicians for the body and physicians for the soul, although the two cannot be separated." She goes on to talk about how even though this was said many years ago, his ideas are still pertinent in today's society and are becoming even more mainstream. I don't want to delve into my opinions on this matter yet or how I'm starting to make a difference in this crazy world but I will conclude that you can't always judge a book by it's cover, even if you want to use it as rolling papers. Also, I begrudgingly admit that I was being a hypocrite before I wrote this. I hated the fact that this journal very strongly supported the faith in God and left out the fact that God is whatever you make of it. I did not consider I could switch the word God to Spirit or Higher Source. I realize now that it's not the fact they used the word God but instead that they're trying to CONVINCE MANKIND of something. I personally strongly dislike people that try to convince me of something, especially religion. I am not a fan of religion. The Higher Source is way too big, way too deep for our little human minds to understand let alone categorize it. People make things out what they want to be. They have their reasons. It's not my purpose on earth to convince anyone. I'm just here to make the best out of what I experience and hope that my beliefs make things easier for me to understand and easier to love everyone.

Peace and love everyone.
